iF Design Award 2025 for two Geberit products: Award-winning actuator plates Sigma40 and Type 40

05 Aug. 2025

The new Geberit Sigma40 actuator plate and the Type 40 urinal actuator plate have been awarded the iF Design Award 2025. Both Geberit products impressed the jury with their minimalist, contemporary design.

Particularly slim and at the same time slightly wider and shorter than a standard actuator plate: the Geberit Sigma40 impresses with its modern design and wide range of materials. The same applies to the matching Type 40 urinal actuator plate. An international jury of experts, consisting of over 130 independent design professionals, honoured the two products and presented them with the renowned iF Design Award 2025.

The jury was particularly impressed by the shape of the two Geberit actuator plates. The Sigma40 is just four millimetres thin and comes in a panoramic format. It is available with both square and round push buttons and in a range of materials: from brushed stainless steel in various colours or with a matt finish, to a range of glass options.

With a love for detail

“With such simple, minimalist designs, it is especially important to pay the utmost attention to detail. And that's exactly what we did,” says designer Christoph Behling. The high quality is expressed, among other things, by the perfectly crafted edges of the brushed stainless steel or the elegance of the glass surface.

Anita Thoma Steingruber, International Product Manager, also draws attention to what is not visible: The extremely slim design of the Sigma40 required a completely new mounting solution. “Of course in the usual Geberit quality,” she emphasises. “Like all our actuator plates, the Sigma40 can be mounted without tools and is also compatible with older cistern models.” A perfect example of how outstanding design and technical expertise are inextricably linked at Geberit.

For projects with high design standards

Like the Sigma40, the new Type 40 urinal actuator plate is remarkably slim, with a depth of just four millimetres, and is available in square and round versions. It is characterised by the same high-quality surfaces and variety of materials. This makes the Type 40, like the Sigma40, the ideal choice for construction projects that demand the highest standards of design and quality.
